Darth Paper Strikes Back | An Origami Yoda Book by Tom Angleberger
Book Review by Andrew Allen

Darth Paper Strikes Back is a book about some friends who, after figuring out that Origami Yoda is real (see The Strange Case of Origami Yoda), run into some trouble.  Dwight, the kid who walks around school with Origami Yoda on his finger, is being sent to CREF (the Correctional and Remedial Education Facility) because of what Origami Yoda said to one girl: “Zero hour comes.  Prepare to meet your doom!”  Fifteen of Dwight’s friends make a case file to show to the School Board members that Dwight is a good kid, even if he is a little weird.  Another kid at school, Harvey, doesn’t believe in, or even like, Origami Yoda; he wants to get rid of him so he can take over with his all-new evil Darth Paper!

After the kids finish their case file (which O.Y. told them to make), Harvey/D.P. triumph over the fact that Dwight says O.Y. is not real.  Dwight’s friends continue to work on saving him from the horrible `comforts’ of CREF. Reading this book, you will discover the true intentions of Harvey at the school board meeting.

Hidden in the book are two games.  The Death Star game is awesome. I have, however, made some modifications of my own, and I love it. I have not tried the other game yet.  I do not think this book would have been quite as good without the doodles found on just about every page throughout.  There are some insults in this book, but no swearing or curse words. I liked this entire book and I would recommend it to any kid who enjoys Star Wars. I couldn’t put this book down (well technically I could, but I didn’t want to).

Hi friends, I have exciting news! One lucky book reviewer will win a family pool pass for the Allegheny County Parks!  Do you want to win? Just email RC your book review by March 31st for a chance to win. The winner’s review will appear on RC’s Clubhouse.

Book Review Guidelines
1. Please use no more than 500 words.
2. Be creative and honest.
3. Use appropriate language.
4. Don’t give away the ending!
5. Not sure where to start? These questions from Scholastic might help you:

- What did you like? What didn’t you like?
- Was it a story you couldn’t put down?
- Were the characters just like people you know?
- What made it special?

Good luck!
